Perfect World Games has revealed an unusually ambitious collection of additions for Neverness to Everness, with Version 1.5 introducing two new characters, vehicle combat and an entire logistics-management system. The update was detailed during an October 28 presentation and will arrive in two stages, beginning November 11 and December 2. The first new character is Yelm, a Light-element fighter whose abilities combine offensive support with increasingly powerful attacks.
The second is Exe, a Dark-element ranged attacker who becomes more effective through sustained combat and carefully timed actions. Their respective recruitment opportunities will accompany different phases of the update. However, the most surprising additions involve activities outside conventional combat. Players will be able to establish a logistics centre, recruit drivers, accept delivery contracts and improve their business operations.
Another feature introduces controllable tanks that can participate in four-player competitive battles. New vehicles include a tank and an experimental lion-shaped machine, both designed to expand the range of activities available within the game's urban environment. A separate board-game activity arriving in December will challenge players to arrange buildings and create profitable combinations.
The developers have also announced interface improvements, additional progression tools and graphical optimisation for mobile hardware. These include support for Snapdragon-related rendering technology intended to improve visual quality and responsiveness. Neverness to Everness continues exploring the idea of a virtual city that offers considerably more than combat and exploration. The challenge will be ensuring that its growing collection of activities remains entertaining rather than overwhelming.
Apparently defeating supernatural monsters is no longer enough. Players must now manage a delivery company, operate a tank and occasionally remember why they originally entered the city.
