Japanese entertainment publisher Marvelous has reported a dramatic improvement in profitability for the six months ending September 2026, while confirming that its upcoming Senran Kagura mobile project remains part of the company's near-term release plans. Operating profit increased more than twelvefold to approximately 2.72 billion yen, despite consolidated revenue declining 30.7 percent to approximately 14.05 billion yen.
The improvement reflects stronger profitability from existing games, overseas releases and intellectual-property licensing, alongside lower spending on major new releases during the reporting period. Looking ahead, Marvelous expects to launch Shinobi NEXUS: Senran Kagura before the end of 2026. The mobile title is being developed through subsidiary HONEY PARADE GAMES and continues the popular action franchise's expansion into character-focused online entertainment.
Pre-registration has reportedly progressed ahead of the company's expectations, providing an encouraging early indication of interest. The project follows the conclusion of Shinobi Master Senran Kagura New Link, which operated for approximately seven and a half years before ending its story in May 2025. Marvelous is also preparing additional console and PC releases, meaning development and marketing expenditure is expected to increase during the second half of its financial year.
The company has therefore maintained a cautious full-year outlook despite its strong interim profits. For mobile gaming observers, Shinobi NEXUS will be an important test of whether an established franchise can successfully attract returning players while introducing a new generation to its characters. Apparently the ninja business remains profitable, although the accountants have discovered that the most effective technique involves controlling expenses rather than disappearing in a cloud of smoke.
