Key takeaways

  • Japanese release of portrait-mode RPG Ragnarok: Adventures postponed past November 4.
  • Publisher GungHo prioritises system safety and infrastructure stability before release.
  • Revised release date to be announced once technical readiness is established.

Ragnarok: Adventures will not launch in Japan on November 4 as originally planned. GungHo Online Entertainment confirmed on October 29 that the scheduled release had been postponed because additional work was required to ensure the safety and stability of the overall system. The company has not announced a replacement release date and says further information will be provided once a new schedule has been determined.

The postponement affects the Japanese service of the portrait-mode mobile RPG developed around the established Ragnarok universe. Unlike conventional MMORPGs requiring constant manual interaction, Ragnarok: Adventures concentrates on accessible progression, automatic battles and character development systems intended for shorter smartphone sessions.

The title draws upon the colourful monsters, familiar environments and established identity of Ragnarok Online, a franchise with a substantial history across PC and mobile platforms. The Japanese edition had been scheduled for release on iOS and Android, with pre-registration rewards announced before the delay. GungHo has apologised to players and indicated that the additional time will be used to improve release readiness.

However, the announcement does not establish whether the work involves a particular security vulnerability, infrastructure problem or another technical issue. Players should therefore avoid speculation and follow official notices for a revised date. Apparently even automated fantasy adventures occasionally encounter an enemy that cannot be defeated by collecting stronger equipment: unfinished technical preparations.
