Malaysian developer Passion Republic Games is preparing to unleash GigaBash Mobile on Android on November 10, allowing smartphone owners to settle their disagreements by throwing enormous monsters through equally enormous buildings. The mobile adaptation brings the colourful arena-brawling action of the original PC and console game to Google Play, with an iOS version planned for a later date. Players control gigantic monsters and heroic machines in battles supporting one to four participants.
Destructible environments allow combatants to use buildings and surrounding objects as weapons, while accumulating Giga Energy unlocks powerful S-Class transformations and devastating Ultimate abilities. Four gameplay modes are included: Battle, Arcade, Story and Onslaught. Online and offline play options are also planned. Particularly interesting is the inclusion of optional crossover content featuring Godzilla, Ultraman and Gamera: Rebirth.
These licensed characters will be available through separately purchased downloadable content, although regional availability may vary. GigaBash Mobile will be free to try, with unlocking the complete base game costing approximately $9.99 in the United States. The release represents another example of a substantial PC and console experience reaching smartphones without being completely redesigned around conventional free-to-play monetisation.
Its greatest challenge will be translating fast-paced arena combat into responsive touchscreen controls. Nevertheless, the prospect of fighting enormous monsters during the morning commute is considerably more entertaining than reading another collection of emails.
