The Red Cathedral is turning award-winning board-game strategy into a mobile release

The Red Cathedral is heading to mobile, and tabletop strategy fans should pay attention. Devir has announced a digital version of the award-winning board game for Android, iOS and PC this fall. The setup keeps the original’s construction-race theme: Tsar Ivan the Terrible wants a grand cathedral, and rival teams of builders compete for favour by managing resources, guild influence and construction progress.

The mobile version is being positioned as a faithful adaptation rather than a simplified puzzle spin-off, with solo play, cross-platform multiplayer, tutorials and different AI levels. That is exactly what board-game ports need to do on mobile. The touchscreen should help with selecting actions and managing resources, while cross-play could keep the player pool healthier than a mobile-only release would.
