Lenovo Legion Y70 launch day puts the gaming-phone comeback under pressure

Lenovo’s Legion Y70 reaches its China launch day today, and the brand’s gaming-phone comeback now has to prove it is more than a spec sheet. Pre-launch details point to Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, an 8,000mAh battery, 90W charging, a high-refresh AMOLED display and a large vapor-chamber thermal setup using liquid metal and high-conductivity gel. Lenovo is also positioning the phone around AI-era gaming features rather than the old hyper-aggressive gaming-phone identity. That could be smart.

The market has matured, and many players want sustained performance, cooling and battery without a device that looks like a spaceship crashed into a router. Pricing and global availability remain the key unknowns. If Lenovo keeps the Y70 China-only, the comeback stays limited. If it goes global, RedMagic and ASUS get another serious rival.
