Savvy’s Play to Learn competition wraps with 719,000 Saudi students involved
Savvy Games Group and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Education have concluded a nationwide game-design education push involving 7,705 schools.
Savvy Games Group has wrapped the first nationwide Play to Learn competition in Saudi Arabia, and the scale is eye-opening. The initiative involved 719,000 students, 7,705 schools and more than 36,000 instructors, with students submitting over 155,000 educational game concepts. Ten finalist teams were selected, and Roblox helped turn shortlisted ideas into playable prototypes. The winning concept will now be developed into a full Roblox Learning Hub experience.
For mobile and UGC gaming, this is important because it shows how Saudi Arabia is trying to turn gaming from consumption into talent development. Instead of only buying publishers or hosting esports events, the country is building pipelines around students, teachers, educational game design and development tools. That is a longer play than a single game launch.
