Indian gaming company Nazara Technologies is preparing to raise approximately ₹733.5 crore, or around $77 million, through a preferential share issue involving investors connected to Bluetile and BestPlay. The company intends to use the capital for acquisitions, intellectual-property expansion, organic growth and AI-enabled game development.
Nazara has built its position through a mixture of gaming, esports and media investments, so the new funding could support further consolidation across India's rapidly developing interactive-entertainment market. A large capital raise also gives the company greater flexibility to acquire studios or products during a period when valuations in parts of the games industry remain under pressure.
The reference to artificial intelligence is likely to attract attention, although the practical value will depend on whether the technology improves production, personalisation or operational efficiency rather than simply becoming an investor-facing label. For the wider mobile sector, the deal is another sign that India is producing companies with ambitions beyond the domestic market. Nazara's next moves will be watched closely because acquisitions can expand reach quickly but also create integration challenges.
Shareholder approval, regulatory steps and the final allocation of funds will determine how rapidly the company can turn the proposed financing into new products and revenue.
