Order of Kings will begin its third season, Contention of the Schools, on 15 August with a substantial expansion of its battlefield systems. The mobile strategy game already distinguishes itself through real-time 3D combat, terrain and unit collision, and the new season adds weather as an active tactical factor. Rain can turn ground into mud, snow may freeze rivers and extreme heat can alter the effectiveness of armies, forcing players to reconsider routes and formations instead of relying on fixed strategies.

Four additional factions, West Qin, Jingchu, Qilu and Yanzhao, broaden the political landscape and provide new starting positions. The Schools system also introduces elite units such as Qin Elite Warriors and Wei Martial Elite, with bonuses that can affect both battlefield performance and faction development. These additions are designed to make each campaign less predictable and give experienced players more reasons to adapt their armies.

Dynamic weather is especially promising because it connects visual change to practical consequences rather than functioning as decoration. The update's success will depend on balance: environmental effects must be significant enough to matter without making outcomes feel random. If handled well, Season 3 could move Order of Kings closer to a compact mobile interpretation of large-scale historical strategy games.
