Fairphone's Gen 6+ is now officially available in the United States, giving American consumers direct access to one of the industry's most repairable modern smartphones. The $649.99 model uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage while maintaining Fairphone's modular construction. Components including the battery, display and USB-C port can be replaced individually with relatively straightforward tools.
The company also offers a five-year warranty and software support extending well into the next decade. Fairphone's specifications do not compete with premium gaming phones at the same price, but that is not the company's priority. The argument is that a device should remain useful after its battery wears out or a charging connector fails rather than being discarded as one sealed object. Official US distribution also makes warranty service and replacement parts much easier than importing previous generations.
For mobile gaming, Snapdragon 7-series performance should handle mainstream titles comfortably, while 12GB of RAM provides useful longevity. The Gen 6+ represents a very different definition of premium hardware: durability and ownership rather than maximum benchmark scores.
