Dragon Quest Heroes: Torneko's Mystery Dungeon Classic HD arrives on mobile

Square Enix has announced and released Dragon Quest Heroes: Torneko's Mystery Dungeon – Classic HD for iOS, Android and multiple console and PC platforms. The surprise launch brings one of the historically important Mystery Dungeon titles to modern hardware in remastered form. Torneko helped establish the roguelike structure that later became central to the Mystery Dungeon series: procedurally structured expeditions, turn-based movement and the tension of risking progress each time the player enters a dungeon.

A mobile release is especially appropriate because the game's grid-based movement and deliberate pacing translate naturally to touchscreen input. The launch also continues a broader trend of publishers using mobile alongside consoles and PC to preserve older Japanese games rather than restricting remasters to traditional gaming hardware.
