Hoa has arrived on mobile through Crunchyroll Games, with the smartphone edition scheduled for September 9 and available to qualifying Crunchyroll Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan subscribers. The hand-painted 2D puzzle-platformer emphasises exploration, environmental puzzles and a gentle atmosphere rather than combat. Players guide Hoa through forests, caves and other environments while restoring life to the world and uncovering pieces of her past.
The mobile version has been adapted specifically for touchscreen play and does not introduce separate advertising or conventional mobile microtransactions for eligible subscribers. Hoa is an interesting addition to Crunchyroll's game strategy because it broadens the service beyond anime adaptations and licensed RPGs into critically recognised indie titles. Subscription bundling also provides another route for premium games to reach mobile users without asking them to make a separate purchase.
For players already paying for Crunchyroll, Hoa effectively becomes an additional benefit rather than another standalone expense.
