OnePlus 16 Teaser Confirms System-Wide 165Hz Ambitions

OnePlus has started officially teasing the OnePlus 16 in China and has confirmed support for a system-wide 165Hz refresh rate alongside Android 17-based ColorOS 17. The refresh-rate announcement is particularly relevant to competitive mobile gaming because most mainstream premium phones still operate at 120Hz. A 165Hz interface does not automatically mean every game will run at 165 frames per second, but it gives developers and supported titles a higher display ceiling.

OnePlus has not yet revealed the complete specification sheet, although additional information circulating around the device points toward an emphasis on gaming responsiveness and a large battery. The company is expected to launch the phone first in China, with international timing still to be confirmed. High-refresh displays once belonged primarily to dedicated gaming phones, but their migration into mainstream flagships demonstrates how gaming-focused specifications are influencing the wider Android market.
