HyperOS 4 Global Beta Expands to More Xiaomi Phones

Xiaomi's global HyperOS 4 beta rollout is expanding across another group of eligible devices. The Android 17-based software introduces the company's new Soft Light Glass visual language alongside faster application loading, broader customisation and additional AI functionality. Xiaomi has also highlighted improvements to HDR processing, video playback and overall responsiveness.

Several current Xiaomi flagships are included in the first global testing wave, allowing the company to gather data outside China before the stable rollout expands further. For mobile gamers, operating-system updates can have a surprisingly large effect on performance through changes to graphics drivers, memory allocation, thermal management and background processes.

Beta users should nevertheless approach the upgrade cautiously because Xiaomi warns that conventional rollback is not available through the normal OTA process. HyperOS 4 is part of a wider September wave of Android 17-based software, with Oppo and other manufacturers simultaneously rolling out their own heavily customised implementations.
