Brawl Stars and Duolingo Crossover Goes Live With 20-vs-1 Duo Boss Battle

Brawl Stars has launched one of the stranger mobile collaborations of the year, teaming with language-learning platform Duolingo for a crossover running from September 19 through September 30. Duolingo mascot Duo invades Starr Park as the centrepiece of a new 20-versus-one Boss Fight in which a large team of players tackles increasingly powerful versions of the green owl. The crossover goes beyond simply dropping a branded skin into the game.

Quiz questions appear during the fight, with correct answers helping players while mistakes can cause damage or elimination. The collaboration works in the opposite direction too: Brawl Stars character Spike is appearing inside Duolingo, where learners can complete a streak-based quest and earn themed rewards. It is an unusually coherent crossover because both products are enormous mobile-first services rather than a game borrowing a famous entertainment licence.

For Supercell, it gives Brawl Stars another limited-time spectacle with strong social-media potential; for Duolingo, it turns its famously aggressive mascot into an actual videogame boss. The event is available globally from today.
