Galaxy S25 and Fold 7 Families Get September 28 One UI 9 Target

Samsung has provided a clearer timetable for extending One UI 9 beyond its newest Galaxy hardware. The Galaxy S25 series together with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are scheduled to begin receiving the Android 17-based update from September 28, according to Samsung's regional rollout information. Older premium devices are expected to follow in October, although timing can vary by country, carrier and specific model.

This staggered deployment has become familiar for Android manufacturers, but Samsung's increasingly long software commitments mean each major release now has to reach a much larger catalogue. One UI 9 brings the latest Galaxy AI functions, privacy improvements, interface changes and Samsung's evolving contextual-assistance features.

From a mobile-gaming perspective, timely OS updates are important for controller support, graphics APIs, security and compatibility with newer releases, even when the gaming improvements are not marketed as headline features. The September 28 date gives S25 and seventh-generation foldable owners a much more concrete target than the vague 'coming soon' windows often associated with Android upgrades. Users on older models should expect the rollout to continue in waves rather than arrive simultaneously worldwide.
