That is a major repositioning several months after the devices originally entered the market.

Samsung has not publicly provided a detailed India-specific explanation for the reported revision, although component and memory costs remain a wider industry concern. For buyers, the immediate effect is to make promotions, exchange bonuses and retailer discounts considerably more important when comparing the S26 family with Apple's newly released iPhone 18 Pro models and incoming Android flagships.

The change also creates more breathing room for Samsung's new Galaxy S26 FE, which now sits much further below the core S26 range in effective price. Mobile gaming enthusiasts tend to focus on processors, cooling and displays, but price shifts of this scale can change the value equation overnight.
