Google's Pixel 11 Pro XL Still Struggles to Make 25W Wireless Charging Feel Fast

Fresh testing of Google's Pixel 11 Pro XL has highlighted an awkward reality behind its upgraded 25W PixelSnap wireless-charging specification: a higher peak number does not automatically produce a dramatically faster real-world charge. Android Authority testing found Google's magnetic wireless system remained comparatively slow and generated noticeable heat despite the improved headline wattage.

The issue matters because PixelSnap replaced Google's older Pixel Stand approach while simultaneously expanding the ecosystem around magnetic cases and accessories. Magnetic alignment is convenient, particularly for stands and car mounts, but efficiency becomes important when users are paying for a premium phone and official charger. Heat can also cause phones to reduce charging power before the advertised maximum has much effect.

For gamers, battery replenishment and thermal behaviour are particularly relevant because intensive games already generate substantial heat. PixelSnap remains useful as an accessory standard, but the latest results suggest wired charging is still the more practical option when a Pixel 11 Pro XL needs a significant amount of power quickly.
