HyperOS 4 Beta Expands Xiaomi's Android 17 Testing Programme

Xiaomi is widening testing of HyperOS 4, its next major interface generation built on Android 17, across more recent flagship devices. The software introduces the translucent Soft Light Glass visual language, redesigned widgets and folders, grouped notifications and a revised connected-device hub. Xiaomi is also continuing to integrate AI features across phones, tablets and wearables rather than treating the handset as an isolated product.

Global beta participation now covers additional recent Xiaomi models, while stable deployment is expected to begin in stages after testing. For enthusiasts, beta access provides an early look at the company's new interface direction, but installing pre-release firmware on a primary gaming phone remains risky. Battery behaviour, thermal management and game compatibility can change significantly between beta builds. HyperOS 4 is strategically important because Xiaomi sells across an enormous range of hardware.

Creating a consistent ecosystem experience while keeping lower-powered devices responsive will be a bigger achievement than simply adding more visual effects to the newest flagships.
