Cuisineer cooks up a fresh mobile adventure through Crunchyroll Games

Cuisineer has made the jump to iOS and Android through Crunchyroll Games, bringing its charming mixture of dungeon crawling, restaurant management and culinary chaos to phones and tablets. Players step into the shoes of Pom, an adventurer who spends her evenings exploring dangerous environments for ingredients and her daytime hours turning those spoils into dishes for hungry customers. The result is essentially two games sharing the same kitchen.

Combat is presented from an isometric perspective, with food-themed enemies and an amusing collection of cooking-inspired weapons helping Cuisineer avoid becoming another anonymous action RPG. Back in town, the restaurant side lets players expand the menu, serve increasingly elaborate dishes and gradually build a more successful business.

The mobile release is particularly well suited to shorter sessions, although access comes through the Crunchyroll Games catalogue and therefore requires an eligible Crunchyroll subscription. Cuisineer originally earned attention for combining cosy management mechanics with surprisingly energetic dungeon combat, and the mobile version gives it a potentially much larger audience.

It is also another substantial PC and console-style title entering Crunchyroll's growing mobile library rather than being rebuilt around conventional free-to-play monetisation.
