Game of Thrones: Kingsroad opens registration for its rebuilt Global Content Alignment version

Game of Thrones: Kingsroad has opened pre-registration for its upcoming Global Content Alignment version, beginning the next stage of Netmarble's attempt to unify and improve the game's experience across regions. The registration and reward-lookup website goes live September 22, with pre-registration scheduled to remain open until October 13. According to the latest transition timetable, Global Content Alignment itself is planned for October 14. Existing Western Server players are not being forced to move.

They may continue using their current characters on that server, while those choosing the aligned version can use a reward-lookup system covering growth and eligible purchase-history rewards. The revised version is more substantial than a server shuffle. Netmarble has outlined changes to progression, combat balance, the economy, visuals and multiplayer, together with a Dual Weapon System that allows weapons to be changed during battle.

Multiplayer additions include Elite Hideout, Honor Points and the Exchange Post, while navigation, interface design and other quality-of-life systems are also being revised. It effectively gives Netmarble an opportunity to apply lessons gathered from the existing Western release without erasing the version for players who prefer to stay put. For a live-service RPG, that is a considerably less painful strategy than simply announcing that everybody's old home is being demolished next month.
