Motorola Signature 27 adds Bang & Olufsen audio as its Snapdragon Summit reveal approaches

Motorola has provided another look at the upcoming Signature 27 ahead of its formal Snapdragon Summit appearance, and this time sound is sharing the stage with the phone's unusually prominent camera system. Motorola has announced a global partnership with Bang & Olufsen that will begin with premium devices including the Signature 27.

The collaboration covers audio tuning, dedicated sound modes and additional experiences, while today's teaser confirms a stereo-speaker arrangement with speakers at the top and bottom of the handset. Previous Motorola material has already revealed a 200-megapixel Sony LYTIA-branded camera, 100x Super Zoom and Dolby Vision support. The company has also confirmed that Snapdragon silicon will power the device, although the exact processor has not yet been officially named.

That last point is worth keeping clear while Qualcomm's September 22 mobile keynote is still pending. For gamers, the Signature 27 is not a dedicated gaming phone in the RedMagic mould, but flagship Snapdragon performance, stereo speakers and a premium display-and-camera package could make it an interesting all-round high-end Android device. Motorola's partnership with Bang & Olufsen is particularly notable because smartphone audio usually receives a line in a specification table and little more.

If the collaboration produces genuinely useful tuning rather than an attractive logo, mobile games may be among the applications that benefit most.
