Aniimo finally lands on iOS and Android with full cross-platform progression

Aniimo has officially made the jump to smartphones, launching worldwide on iOS and Android on September 23 after arriving on PC and consoles one week earlier. Pawprint Studio's free-to-play creature-collecting RPG drops players into the open world of Idyll, where the local wildlife is considerably more useful than the pigeons outside your office.

Players collect magical creatures called Aniimo, explore environments, battle enemies and use the game's Twine system to directly control creatures for combat, traversal and puzzle solving. The especially useful bit for existing players is cross-platform progression: progress, resources and party line-ups can travel between supported platforms when players use the same account and server.

Pawprint recommends having at least 18GB of free storage before installation, which is a polite way of saying your phone may have to evict several years of forgotten WhatsApp videos. The mobile release substantially widens Aniimo's potential audience and, at launch, the game has already climbed to the top of the free RPG rankings in some territories.

For anyone who looked at the PC version last week and thought it seemed lovely but required rather too much sitting at a desk, your sofa-based monster-collecting career can now begin.
