Lilith Games has launched AFK Arena's Kaiju No. 8 collaboration worldwide, bringing Kafka Hibino and Kikoru Shinomiya into the long-running idle RPG on both Classic and Companion servers. The crossover runs through October 20 and gives players a suitably improbable combination of fantasy heroes, enormous monsters and people who seem remarkably calm about both.
Kafka and Kikoru join as collaboration characters, and fielding the pair together activates additional combat synergy, giving the partnership a mechanical purpose beyond having two recognisable anime faces standing attractively on the same menu screen. A new Subjugation Begins event accompanies the collaboration with missions, themed artwork and rewards. Lilith is also dangling a sizeable onboarding package for newcomers, advertising access to as many as 1,000 summons as part of the current promotion.
Crossovers have become everyday business in mobile games, but Kaiju No. 8 is an unusually natural fit for a title built around collecting increasingly extravagant fighters and throwing them at escalating threats. AFK Arena has survived long enough to collaborate with a remarkable range of outside properties, and this event shows the strategy remains alive and kicking. Or, given Kafka's particular circumstances, occasionally transforming into something large enough to kick several city blocks at once.
