Petit Planet's final beta adds snowfall, new neighbours and more reasons to ignore reality

HoYoverse's Petit Planet is deep into its final beta on Android, iOS and PC, and today's coverage has detailed a considerably expanded build ahead of the cosy life sim's planned Winter 2026 release. Once players raise their Luca Arbor to Level 9, winter weather can arrive and cover their planet in snow, bringing seasonal resources and discoveries with it. The Season of Snowfall storyline unlocks further into progression, while new Neighbours can be encountered during voyages and eventually invited home.

Expanded activities, customisation options and quality-of-life systems make this test substantially more representative of the final game than earlier builds. The beta itself began on September 20 for selected testers and will wipe progress when it ends; HoYoverse has not announced the closing date. There are no purchases during the test, which means nobody can accidentally spend €40 decorating a planet that will cease to exist shortly afterward.

Petit Planet remains very obviously aimed at the Animal Crossing-shaped part of the market, but HoYoverse is layering its own character-driven storytelling and interplanetary travel around the familiar fishing, collecting and decorating loop. Whether that combination becomes dangerously cosy or merely extremely cosy should become clearer before winter.
