Pokémon GO launches Twilight Trails Choose Your Path research

Pokémon GO has started its latest Choose Your Path: Twilight Trails research period today, running from 10:00 local time on September 23 until 20:00 local time on September 28. Rather than forcing every Trainer through the same sequence, the event allows players to choose between paths centred on exploration, catching or battling Team GO Rocket.

The selected path changes research tasks and associated bonuses for the week, giving players at least some say in what flavour of repetitive outdoor activity they would prefer. Depending on the version of the research presented to an account, Trainers may select one weekly bonus or receive additional daily research after choosing their direction.

Path decisions cannot simply be swapped afterward, so anyone prone to existential crisis while choosing between extra Candy and fighting Team GO Rocket should probably avoid making the decision while walking across a road. These smaller research weeks sit between Pokémon GO's larger headline events and are designed to maintain daily engagement without requiring an entirely new monster or raid ecosystem.

Twilight Trails is therefore not the game's biggest September event, but it does offer a flexible reason to keep opening the app through the end of the week rather than merely checking whether the same Pidgey is still outside.
