RedMagic 12 Pro+ confirmed with Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 for another assault on mobile gaming

RedMagic has confirmed that its upcoming 12 Pro+ gaming phone will use Qualcomm's higher-end Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform. The announcement came alongside Qualcomm's new chipset launch and positions the RedMagic device among the first wave of dedicated gaming hardware built around the 2nm processor.

ZTE and Nubia executive Ni Fei says the combination should improve responsiveness, efficiency and sustained performance during longer sessions, all of which matter considerably more to actual players than achieving one spectacular benchmark before the phone considers applying for workers' compensation. RedMagic has not yet revealed every specification of the 12 Pro+, but the brand's previous devices have focused heavily on active cooling, high-refresh displays, large batteries and gaming-specific controls.

The important distinction here is the Extreme chip rather than the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. Qualcomm is deliberately separating its premium silicon into two tiers this generation, and RedMagic has chosen the top version for its flagship gaming device. That decision is hardly surprising, but it ensures the 12 Pro+ will become one of the key phones for measuring what Qualcomm's latest architecture can actually sustain when pushed by demanding games rather than carefully controlled launch demonstrations.
