Pokémon GO players holding tickets for the postponed Boston City Safari have one final opportunity to participate in the rescheduled event on October 25. Following severe weather that disrupted the original plans, the organisers transformed the experience into an unusual worldwide event available exclusively to players who had already purchased tickets.
Instead of requiring participants to travel to Massachusetts, the revised arrangement allows qualifying trainers to enjoy special encounters and bonuses wherever they happen to be. The event operates between 10am and 6pm in each participant's local time zone on October 24 and 25. Special Timed Research replaces part of the original location-based experience, providing encounters with Pokémon including Orange Flower Flabébé, Hawlucha, Mudbray and Komala.
Players can also receive additional Special Research associated with Boston PokéStops, offering opportunities to encounter Eevee wearing an explorer hat and featuring a special Boston location background. That supplementary research remains obtainable by qualifying ticket holders until October 23, 2028, giving affected participants considerably more flexibility than the original weekend schedule. The revised event does not include the planned Boston GO Stamp Rally, and no additional tickets are being sold.
Players who previously requested refunds are not eligible to participate. The unusual arrangement illustrates the logistical challenges associated with location-based mobile games. Weather conditions can disrupt events involving thousands of travelling players, forcing organisers to balance fairness, commercial obligations and technical limitations.
Allowing existing ticket holders to participate globally provides a practical compromise, although it cannot completely reproduce the atmosphere of an in-person gathering. Apparently the world's most famous location-based mobile game has discovered that sometimes the best destination is wherever you happen to be standing.
