Steam Controller queue keeps phone-based Steam Link play in the accessory spotlight
Valve’s Steam Controller reservation queue is now open after launch stock sold out, giving remote-play users another route into phone-and-controller setups.
Valve’s new Steam Controller is still one of the more interesting hardware stories for mobile players, even though it is not a phone accessory in the traditional sense. After selling out quickly, Valve opened a reservation queue that saves a buyer’s place in line. Eligible accounts can reserve one controller, then complete the purchase within a 72-hour window once stock becomes available. The mobile angle is Steam Link.
A phone paired with a good controller and mount can become a lightweight PC streaming handheld, especially for players who already own a Steam library and do not want to buy a full handheld PC. The controller also sits inside Valve’s wider 2026 hardware push, where Steam Deck, Steam Machine and Steam Frame continue to blur the line between desk, couch and portable play. If third-party mounts become common, this could quietly become one of the better remote-play controllers for phone users.
