Steam Controller shipping starts in Japan as KOMODO clears Golden Week backlog

Steam Controller buyers in Japan finally have movement. KOMODO, Valve’s official licensed provider for Steam Deck and related hardware in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan, says Japan Steam Controller shipping begins on Monday, 11 May 2026. Orders opened during Golden Week, so the timing gives the warehouse a chance to recover from the holiday period before dispatching units. Shipping in South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan had already begun on 7 May.

For mobile and handheld players, the Steam Controller matters because it supports Valve’s wider portable play ecosystem. Pair it with Steam Link, a phone mount or a compact display setup, and it becomes part of a flexible remote-play chain rather than just a PC couch controller. Stock and shipping will decide how quickly that ecosystem grows in practice.
