PUBG Mobile removes Hand of the Almighty item after religious backlash
PUBG Mobile has removed the Hand of the Almighty item and issued an apology after criticism from Muslim players over religious sensitivity concerns.
PUBG Mobile is also dealing with a controversy tied to the same V4.4 update cycle. After criticism from parts of the Muslim player community, the team removed an in-game card item called Hand of the Almighty and issued a public apology. The concern was that the wording felt disrespectful or insensitive because of its religious connotations, even though some players argued that the phrase was broad enough to be harmless fantasy language.
For a global game the size of PUBG Mobile, this is the kind of issue that can escalate quickly. The developer’s choice to remove the item rather than simply defend or rename it shows how sensitive cultural review has become in live-service games. The lesson is not complicated: when you operate across hundreds of countries, item names, symbols and event themes need the same review discipline as gameplay balance.
