Sensor Tower buys AppMagic as mobile market intelligence keeps consolidating

The mobile games data business is consolidating again. Sensor Tower has acquired AppMagic, with the terms of the deal not disclosed. AppMagic will continue serving smaller and mid-sized customers, while Sensor Tower adds another source of mobile market intelligence to its wider platform. For developers, publishers and investors, this matters because mobile game decisions are increasingly data-led.

Teams track revenue, downloads, ad spend, genre movement, launch performance, retention signals and competitor behaviour before deciding what to build, buy or kill. Sensor Tower already expanded significantly through its data.ai acquisition, and AppMagic adds another layer to that market-intelligence stack. The risk is the usual one in analytics consolidation: fewer independent sources and less pricing pressure. The upside is potentially stronger tools and broader coverage for teams that can afford them.
