Petit Planet’s Stardrift test makes HoYoverse’s cozy life sim look like more than a side experiment
Early Stardrift test impressions suggest HoYoverse is building a polished cozy life sim for mobile and PC rather than another combat-heavy gacha RPG.
Petit Planet is shaping up as one of HoYoverse’s most unexpected projects. The studio is best known for action RPGs and gacha-heavy live-service worlds, but the Stardrift test impressions point toward something gentler: a cosmic life sim about cultivating planets, decorating spaces, meeting characters and building a cozy routine across the stars. The important thing is tone. Petit Planet does not appear to be trying to outfight Genshin Impact or Honkai. It is aiming for comfort, color, polish and daily-life charm.
That could give HoYoverse access to a different kind of mobile player, closer to Animal Crossing and cozy sim fans than abyss-clearers and banner planners. The game is still in testing, so it is too early to judge monetization or long-term depth, but the early impression is encouraging.
