Roco Kingdom keeps global players curious after a massive China launch
Tencent’s creature-collecting open-world RPG is still China-only, but fresh hands-on coverage makes it look like one of the most charming mobile RPGs to watch.
Roco Kingdom: World is not a global launch story yet, but it is absolutely a mobile RPG watchlist story. Tencent’s creature-collecting open-world RPG launched in China earlier this year, and fresh first-impression coverage today points to a game that mixes nostalgic pet collecting with modern exploration in a surprisingly charming way. The obvious comparison is Pokémon-style collecting, but Roco Kingdom also leans into a colorful open world, pet personalities, turn-based battles and social exploration.
The important caveat is availability. The China version is the official release right now, and a global date has not been confirmed. Still, the level of interest makes sense. Mobile players are hungry for creature-collecting RPGs that feel big, bright and friendly without becoming lifeless auto-grind. If Tencent eventually prepares a proper global version, Roco Kingdom could become a major 2026 RPG talking point.
