My Hero Ultra Impact reaches shutdown day after almost five years
Bandai Namco's My Hero Academia mobile RPG is ending service on 17 May ET / 18 May JST, closing one of the longer-running anime gacha games.
My Hero Ultra Impact reaches the end of its service today, marking a sad but not entirely shocking finish for Bandai Namco's My Hero Academia mobile RPG. The shutdown timing depends on region, with the game ending on 17 May in North America and 18 May in Japan. Players were given time to use remaining Hero Gems and enjoy a Finale Campaign with free daily pulls, but the broader message is familiar: even recognisable anime IP is not enough to guarantee a long live-service life forever.
Ultra Impact had character appeal, 3v3 battles, base customisation and years of content, yet the mobile anime RPG market has become brutally competitive. For fans, the real disappointment is preservation. Once servers close, the memories, collections and event stories become much harder to revisit unless the publisher leaves behind an archive or offline mode.
