A new survey of more than 600 game-technology practitioners shows how divided the industry remains about artificial intelligence. Around half of respondents identified job insecurity as a major concern, making it the most frequently cited anxiety associated with increased AI adoption. Content quality followed closely, alongside regulatory and compliance issues.
The findings also complicate the idea that AI is already transforming productivity everywhere: 37 percent of respondents said the technology had not accelerated their workflows. The research, conducted by Perforce and AWS, arrives as studios increasingly use machine-learning tools for areas ranging from testing and localisation to asset workflows and analytics.
The concern for mobile development is particularly relevant because free-to-play studios operate under constant pressure to produce enormous amounts of live content efficiently. AI can potentially reduce repetitive work, but employees understandably question whether efficiency targets eventually turn into smaller teams. Funding was also identified as a substantial broader challenge for the industry.
The survey does not establish that AI will eliminate specific roles, but it does show that workforce anxiety is now a central implementation issue rather than a fringe concern limited to artists or writers.
