Bandai Namco Entertainment has officially launched BLEACH Mirrors High for iOS and Android, bringing a new chapter of Tite Kubo's supernatural action franchise to smartphones. The free-to-play game takes place after the Thousand-Year Blood War storyline and introduces an original narrative developed in collaboration with the BLEACH creator.

Rather than simply replaying familiar anime events, players create their own Soul Reaper and enter a world populated by established characters alongside new personalities designed specifically for the game. Character customisation allows players to adjust their appearance and develop their Zanpakuto, while the combat system combines action mechanics with tactical decisions. Familiar characters including Ichigo Kurosaki and Rukia Kuchiki appear with voices from the original Japanese anime cast.

The developers have prepared substantial launch rewards following the game's achievement of more than one million pre-registrations. Players can receive three-star versions of Ichigo and Rukia together with 9,000 Mirror Stones used for recruitment. Additional beginner missions and login bonuses provide opportunities to earn more currency during the opening week. The first limited recruitment banner features Sosuke Aizen in his Heaven-Standing incarnation, with the event scheduled to continue until November 24.

BLEACH Mirrors High enters a competitive mobile action-RPG market where strong intellectual properties provide an initial advantage but cannot guarantee long-term success. Players will ultimately judge the quality of combat, character progression, monetisation and ongoing updates. Nevertheless, the launch provides an attractive opportunity for fans who have wanted to participate directly in the Soul Society's supernatural conflicts.

Apparently becoming a Soul Reaper now requires considerably less training than it used to. A smartphone and sufficient storage space will apparently do.
