The growth of cross-platform mobile games is steadily erasing the historical separation between smartphone competition and traditional esports. Pokémon Champions gives phone users access to the same ranked rule environment as Switch players, while titles such as Call of Duty: Mobile and PUBG Mobile operate enormous dedicated competitive scenes of their own.
