Blue Archive is preparing to trade classroom activities for motorsport-inspired chaos with a substantial new event beginning after maintenance on October 28. Announced during the October 25 Japanese livestream, Start Your Engines! Forever Number 183 introduces a racing-themed storyline, additional characters and a surprisingly elaborate tank-driving minigame.

Players participating in the event can recruit the new one-star student Rana, voiced by Hikaru Iida, while completing event stages provides special currencies and development materials. The event also introduces limited three-star versions of Hifumi and Azusa wearing racing outfits. Their recruitment banners will run alongside the event, which concludes on November 11. One of the more unusual activities is Gehenna Cup, a minigame where players drive a tank toward the finish line before running out of fuel.

Boss encounters introduce one-on-one battles against rival tanks, providing an alternative to the game's conventional tactical combat. The October 28 update also introduces several broader gameplay improvements. Recruitment History will allow players to review up to one thousand previous recruitment attempts, while Companion Training provides opportunities to use selected characters even before permanently recruiting them.

A beta version of the Virtual Aptitude Test adds another challenge involving multiple teams and special character positions. Looking further ahead, the developers confirmed additional raids, seasonal competitive activities and plans for the game's sixth-anniversary celebrations. These announcements are associated with the Japanese service, so international schedules may differ.

Blue Archive continues demonstrating how established character-collection RPGs can maintain interest through a mixture of storytelling, character releases and unusual minigames. Apparently the academy's educational curriculum now includes motorsport, tank maintenance and the practical consequences of running out of petrol.
