MediaTek is preparing to unveil the Dimensity 9600 Pro on September 15, creating a major upcoming competitor to Apple's A20 Pro and Qualcomm's next Snapdragon platform. MediaTek is promoting improvements in efficiency, gaming and AI, with reports pointing toward a 2nm manufacturing process and next-generation Mali graphics. Gaming is expected to be a major focus, including AI-assisted rendering, an upgraded StarSpeed Engine and hardware-accelerated ray tracing.
Mobile video capabilities are also expected to improve substantially. If the reported specifications are accurate, the 9600 Pro could become MediaTek's most aggressive attempt yet to challenge Qualcomm at the very top of the Android flagship market. The announcement is particularly timely because 2nm smartphone silicon is becoming one of the defining technology stories of late 2026.
Independent device testing will ultimately matter more than pre-launch claims, but September 15 is now a key date for Android hardware.
