Game Freak reveals weather-linked mobile game Ame no Chi Hare Onna

Game Freak has opened September 14 with one of the day's more unusual mobile announcements: Ame no Chi Hare Onna, a free-to-play iOS and Android game jointly developed with CHRONOGATE. Rather than another conventional RPG, it is being described as a laundry game whose systems react to real-world weather conditions in Japan. Players follow magical girl Hare Onna and her companion Kumorin, with weather forecasts influencing the daily experience.

Shigeru Ohmori, best known for senior creative roles across the Pokémon series, is directing and producing the project. A first Hare Onna Club Meeting livestream is scheduled for September 14 at 19:00 JST, followed by additional information during Tokyo Game Show 2026 later this week. The Japanese launch is planned for this winter.

The combination of location-aware information, weather data and lightweight daily interaction makes the project particularly interesting as an example of a mobile game deliberately designed around the phone's connection to the real world rather than merely adapting conventional console mechanics.
