Ame no Chi Hare Onna gets its first developer livestream today

Game Freak is wasting little time expanding on its newly revealed mobile project Ame no Chi Hare Onna. The studio will hold the game's first dedicated Hare Onna Club Meeting livestream today, September 14, at 19:00 JST. The presentation is expected to discuss the development process and introduce the game's characters alongside their voice actors. Hiyori Kono voices protagonist Hare Onna, while Yuki Nagano voices the companion character Kumorin.

Game Freak has already confirmed that the free-to-play iOS and Android title will connect elements of its gameplay to real-world Japanese weather forecasts, creating a daily routine that changes according to outside conditions. Further details are scheduled for Tokyo Game Show, which begins September 17. For mobile developers, the project is noteworthy because it treats live external information as part of the game loop itself.

Weather-driven play has appeared before, but Game Freak's involvement and Ohmori's role as director and producer give the experiment considerably more visibility than most location-aware mobile projects.
