Android September security patch addresses critical no-interaction vulnerability

Google's September Android Security Bulletin remains one of the most important ecosystem updates smartphone users should not overlook. Devices carrying the September 5, 2026 patch level or newer include fixes for all issues documented in the bulletin. Google identifies the most severe problem as a critical vulnerability capable of enabling remote code execution without requiring additional execution privileges or user interaction.

Other patched issues affect Android Runtime, Framework and additional system components across Android 14 through Android 17. Security updates rarely receive the publicity of a new smartphone launch, but they arguably matter more to users who keep financial information, authentication tokens, personal messages and work accounts on their phones.
