Indian manufacturer Lava has confirmed that the Virat Curve will launch on September 21, adding another distinctive mid-range Android phone to an increasingly competitive domestic market. The handset uses a 6.67-inch curved 120Hz AMOLED display and MediaTek's Dimensity 7100 chipset, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. A 6,000mAh battery supports 45W charging, while the main rear camera uses a 50-megapixel Sony sensor.

The more unusual feature is a small secondary display on the back for notifications, giving Lava a visible point of differentiation beyond specifications. The device ships with Android 16 and is promised two operating-system upgrades plus three years of security updates. That support commitment is becoming increasingly important as consumers hold phones longer.

Lava's challenge remains scale, but locally designed devices with competitive specifications give Indian buyers more alternatives to Xiaomi, Samsung, Vivo, Oppo and other dominant brands.
