Nubia NaviX Ultra launches today around a full AI-agent smartphone concept

Nubia is scheduled to unveil the NaviX Ultra in China today at 14:00 local time, positioning the device as an AI-agent smartphone developed around ByteDance's Doubao Phone Assistant. Unlike assistants that primarily answer questions or generate content, Doubao is intended to understand commands, remember context and complete multi-step tasks across applications. Nubia and ByteDance have been developing the project jointly, with app-level services expected to expose functions the agent can invoke.

Pre-launch information points to flagship-class hardware including a 6.78-inch 144Hz OLED display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-class processing and a battery around 7,100mAh, although final specifications and pricing should be taken from today's presentation. The more important story is software. Previous attempts at system-wide AI agents have run into security and application-permission concerns, particularly around banking and messaging apps.

NaviX Ultra therefore becomes a real-world test of whether agentic AI can move from demonstrations into an everyday commercial smartphone without breaking trust between apps, users and operating systems.
