iQOO Pad Ultra Turns an 8.8-Inch Tablet Into a Gaming Handheld

iQOO has revealed the Pad Ultra, an 8.8-inch gaming-focused tablet that will launch in China on September 29 alongside the iQOO 16 smartphone. The device weighs only 298 grams and is being paired with a dedicated accessory ecosystem clearly aimed at handheld gaming. Official images show a dual-sided controller that attaches to the tablet as well as a protective case with clip-on handles.

That configuration effectively transforms the Pad Ultra into an oversized Android handheld while still allowing it to operate as a conventional tablet when the controls are removed. iQOO is also using esports branding around the accessories, signalling that low latency and competitive gaming will be central to its marketing.

Smaller high-performance tablets have become increasingly attractive to mobile players because they offer more screen space than phones without the weight of conventional 11- or 13-inch models. Pricing, processor specifications and international availability remain unconfirmed, but the Pad Ultra is already shaping up as one of September's most distinctive gaming devices.
