ZeptoLab has confirmed that Cut the Rope Remastered will launch on iOS and Android on December 3, bringing its updated version of the classic mobile puzzle game to a broader audience. The release will use a premium purchase model without advertising, subscriptions or in-app purchases. Developed with Paladin Studios, Cut the Rope Remastered previously appeared through Apple Arcade, where its redesigned visuals and familiar physics puzzles introduced Om Nom to another generation of players.
The upcoming standalone release will make the game accessible outside Apple's subscription service, including on Android smartphones and tablets. Gameplay continues revolving around cutting ropes, manipulating objects and delivering sweets to the franchise's eternally hungry green protagonist. Later stages introduce more complicated arrangements involving timing, gravity and environmental interactions.
The original Cut the Rope became enormously successful because its mechanics were naturally suited to touchscreen controls. Players could immediately understand the basic concept without navigating complicated tutorials or virtual gamepads. The decision to return with premium pricing is particularly noteworthy because many mobile puzzle games now depend heavily on advertising and repeat purchases. ZeptoLab is instead offering a more traditional transaction in which players purchase the complete experience.
Pre-registration is available, with a launch discount promised for eligible players. Apparently Om Nom has discovered a remarkably progressive business concept: purchase the game once and spend the remaining time eating candy rather than watching advertisements.
