Playdigious has announced that He Is Coming will arrive on iOS and Android during 2027, expanding its catalogue of PC and console adaptations with another unconventional strategy game. Originally developed by Chronocle, He Is Coming combines roguelike progression, equipment management and automatic combat in a fantasy world threatened by the return of a powerful Demon King. Rather than manually controlling every attack, players concentrate on preparing their characters before encounters.
Weapons, armour and unusual equipment combinations determine how effectively a character performs when combat begins. The system rewards experimentation because apparently insignificant items can become extremely valuable when combined with the correct abilities. Repeated attempts allow players to discover new strategies and adapt to different opponents. A separate competitive mode also provides opportunities to test character builds against other players.
The mobile adaptation is being developed in cooperation with the original creator, with interface improvements intended to make equipment management more comfortable on touchscreens. That work will be important because inventory systems designed for desktop computers can become cumbersome on smaller displays. No precise release date or final mobile pricing has been announced. Nevertheless, its combination of strategic preparation and automatic combat could work particularly well during shorter smartphone sessions.
Apparently the fate of the world now depends on collecting the correct pair of boots and a suspiciously powerful collection of household objects.
