Auroch Digital is preparing to launch Warhammer Survivors on November 10, bringing a new roguelite action game to iOS, Android, PC and consoles. Developed in cooperation with poncle, the studio associated with Vampire Survivors, the project combines the familiar bullet-heaven formula with characters and enemies from Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar. Players select a hero and attempt to survive increasingly dangerous waves of enemies while collecting equipment and improving their abilities.
The game features more than forty characters from the two Warhammer universes, with equipment and upgrades designed around their established identities. Battles become progressively more chaotic as enemy numbers increase and powerful combinations begin filling the screen with projectiles. Auroch Digital has confirmed a launch price of $7.99 in the United States, £6.39 in Britain and €7.49 in Europe, subject to regional platform variations.
The developer has also released a demo on selected PC platforms, giving players an opportunity to explore the combat system before purchasing. Warhammer Survivors represents an interesting example of an established tabletop franchise expanding through accessible arcade mechanics. Whether the combination can satisfy dedicated Warhammer enthusiasts and conventional survivor-game players remains to be seen.
Apparently the only sensible response to an endless army of Orks is to collect increasingly powerful equipment and hope the smartphone survives the particle effects.
